4 Disciplines
of Execution
in my Organization
Today, professional teachers must face the challenge of helping to improve the learning of preschool students at high levels of language and mathematics. We suggest closing current gaps and guaranteeing effective education for all students, offering a new educational concept derived from blended learning through a rotation model.
This approach is based on two highly complementary performance improvement concepts: the Four Disciplines of Execution (4DX) and the five stages of change. 4DX is a systematic way to ensure your critical objectives are achieved, and the five stages of change appropriately guide how to manage that process.
Here are other areas that the 4 Disciplines of Execution (4DX) address:
-
Focus on what is critical (WIG), Prioritize core objectives (WIG), and Identify and enforce the essential beliefs of a learning organization.
-
Continued: Define, score, and report WIG progress measures.
-
Performance Goal: A tracking marker that keeps the team focused on their tasks and commitments.
-
Schedule regular performance meetings – You should meet at agreed intervals to discuss progress and make any necessary adjustments.
The change management framework is based on the five stages of change
-
Create urgency: Make sure the urgency of the change is instilled in everyone responsible for supporting and working on it.
-
Create a strong coalition: Develop a fully committed team to implementing the change.
-
Implement with a vision: create a roadmap for change. Each actor must have a clear vision and defined paths to follow in this step.
-
Obstacles: Identify and remove barriers that could hinder your implementation process.
-
Produce short-term achievements: Achieve and celebrate milestones that drive inspiration and maintain momentum.
Our capability to effectively blend solution planning and implementation frameworks of both types will enable us to execute blended learning well and handle change in a manner that significantly reduces the chances of becoming obsolete in the history of educational technology. Subsequently, we will devise specific strategies for each component so that, upon implementation, students and their language/math achievement can significantly flourish.
1. Focus on what is of crucial importance (Discipline 1)
-
Define WIG (tremendously essential goals)
-
Objective 1: Increase the percentage of students achieving basic language skills by 20% in the next quarter.
-
Objective 2: Improve initial mathematics skills by 25% by the end of the semester.
-
Step 1: Identification and Alignment
-
Establish priorities: Clarify which goals are most important and should receive the most attention and resources. Make sure the entire implementation team understands and accepts these goals as priorities.
-
Alinear Resources: Redirect resources, time, and efforts toward achieving these objectives. This includes teacher training, technology acquisition, and daily classroom activity planning.
2. Law of Measures of Progress (Discipline 2)
-
Define progress measures
-
-
Language progress measure: the number of daily minutes dedicated to reading activities and the frequency of interaction with digital content.
-
Mathematics progress measure: number of mathematical exercises completed and participation in practical mathematics-related activities.
-
-
Step 1: Implementation and Monitoring
-
-
Develop a tracking system: Create a visual dashboard in the classroom to record daily progress, including progress charts and visual markers for students and teachers to track their progress.
-
-
Conduct periodic reviews: Establish a schedule for reviewing progress measures. Review the time spent weekly on reading and mathematics activities and adjust strategies based on the results obtained.
Integration with the 5 Stages of Change
1. Create Urgency (Create Awareness)
-
Communicate the Need: Please remember the following information:
Using initial data to demonstrate the need to change the approach to learning and communicate how blended learning can improve performance in language and mathematics. Conducting presentations and discussions with parents, teachers, and staff to create a sense of urgency and commitment.
2. Form a Powerful Coalition (Develop Commitment)
-
Select and Train the Team: Assemble an implementation team of teachers, exceptional education specialists, and educational technologists. Ensure all team members comprehend the WIGs and progress measures and receive training to execute the blended learning plan.
3. Create a Vision for Change (Clarify the Vision)
-
Develop an Action Plan: Create a clear action plan based on the WIGs and progress measures. The plan should include specific steps, timelines, and resources necessary to implement blended learning effectively in the classroom.
-
Communicate the Vision: Make sure everyone involved understands and shares the vision for the change. Meetings and briefing materials keep everyone aligned with the goals and action plan.
4. Remove Obstacles (Implement and Adjust)
-
Identify Barriers: Anticipate and address potential obstacles, such as resistance to change, lack of resources, or technical problems. Develop strategies to overcome these challenges, such as providing additional support or implementing adjustments.
-
Make Necessary Adjustments: Use progress measurement data to adjust strategies and address issues as they arise.
5. Generate short-term victories (measure and celebrate progress)
-
Set short goals and celebrate achievements: Set short-term goals and celebrate achievements as they are achieved. This may involve recognizing students who show improvement and celebrating essential milestones toward WIGs.
-
Share successes: Communicate successes and progress with everyone involved to maintain motivation and commitment to the blended learning plan.
Summary Strategy
-
Focus on WIGs: clearly define the essential language arts and mathematics objectives and direct all resources and efforts toward them.
-
Progress Measures: Establish and track daily progress measures that reflect progress toward WIGs using a visual tracking system and conducting regular check-ins.
-
Create urgency and commitment: Communicate the need for change, create a dedicated team, and clarify the vision and action plan.
-
Remove obstacles and adjust: Anticipate and resolve barriers and adjust strategies as necessary.
-
Achieve victories and celebrate: Set short goals, celebrate achievements, and share successes to stay motivated.
Complementation of Influencers and 4DX
By combining the approaches of Influencers and 4DX, an environment is created in which change is strategically planned and comprehensively supported on a personal, social, and structural level. While 4DX provides the framework for disciplined execution and focuses on crucial goals, influencers offer the tools to ensure people are motivated and empowered to make those changes. This combination allows the change to be sustained and effective, increasing the chances of success in implementing the blended learning plan in your classroom.
When combined with the 4DX model, the integration of The 4 Disciplines of Execution function creates a powerful synergy that ensures the success of the implementation of blended learning in the classroom. While 4DX focuses on a structured framework for setting and achieving critical goals through a discipline of execution, the influencer model hopes to address the ability to motivate and change behaviors. They identify and address personal and environmental factors that influence the adoption of changes. Together, the approaches ensure that clear goals are defined and worked on, and emotional and tangible barriers that could hinder progress towards them are also addressed. With the influencer approach, you create a positive culture of change and move players toward authentic participation while using 4DX to monitor and adjust progress regularly. In summary, the combo guarantees that the innovation plan is implemented effectively and that this value is sustainable and adaptable over time.
Conclusión
In summary, the deployment of the blended learning model in rotation offers a significant possibility to improve learning in language and mathematics in our preschool classrooms. By combining the implementation of the 4 Disciplines of Execution with the five stages of change, we have established a comprehensive strategy to address the deficit in learning their respective disciplines effectively and sustainably. If this strategy is followed correctly and disciplined, we will be able to achieve significant achievement in language arts and mathematics for our students. Again, I appreciate your collaboration and support in this transformational process and cannot wait to see the positive results of our vision for your students.
