Instructional Design
Overview
In today’s world, early childhood education faces a constant challenge: to offer learning experiences that are effective and deeply meaningful for each child. While the traditional teacher-centered approach has proven useful, adapting and personalizing learning for each student has given rise to new methodologies. The COVA – Choice, Ownership, Voice, and Authenticity – model, a revolutionary and transformative approach, is poised to meet this need. By implementing a Blended Learning rotation model, this technological innovation project aims to significantly enhance the level of early learning related to language and mathematics in regular and special pre-kindergarten students. The COVA model, emphasizing student choice, ownership, voice, and authenticity, promises to create a more engaging and effective learning environment.

Innovation Proposal SR version 2
Such a model allows students to explore specific areas independently, choosing activities and resources from a wide range designed for their needs. At the same time, integrating educational technologies and digital tools aims to enrich and democratize an academic environment. As far as COVA is concerned, this approach is presented as an opportunity for students to choose their activities, take responsibility for their learning, share their ideas, and connect their experiences to authentic situations. The interactive materials and digital resources made available to them as part of this initiative would provide them with the necessary environment to adopt these practices, make informed decisions, and reflect on their experiences. Using Fink’s Three-Column Table layout, we can effectively integrate end goals, activities, and assessments to support our idea. Ultimately, we aim to show how this combination of student-centered approach and technological efficiency can transform early learning and lay a solid foundation for lifelong learning that prepares children for a future full of possibilities.
To guide my instructional design in developing blended learning in preschool, I will use the three-column table and the UbD (Understanding by Design) template I created earlier.
Understanding by Design Template
These tools will be critical to structuring and focusing instructional activities around language and math integration, key areas at the preschool level, and the primary goals of my innovation proposal.
This will be essential as I gather and adjust materials and activities to fit the new blended learning design, ensuring students receive a consistent, standards-aligned education. The course I am designing is rigorously aligned to the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), providing students with the necessary competencies in language and math. Through the UbD template, I clearly define the desired outcomes, including transfer objectives, enduring understandings, and essential questions that will guide the learning process. In addition, the plan includes formative and summative assessments that will allow students' progress to be measured on an ongoing basis, using assessment criteria aligned with the TEKS.
The learning plan will be developed in several stages, beginning with an introduction to basic language and math concepts, followed by skill development through interactive activities at rotating stations. As the course progresses, students will engage in integrated projects that reflect their understanding and application of what they have learned. The resources selected for this plan include materials adapted from the K-5 reading program, digital tools for blended learning, math manipulatives, and literacy resources, all designed to facilitate a meaningful, student-centered learning environment.
In this approach, the teacher's role is that of a facilitator, guiding students in the autonomous use of resources and supporting the transfer of learning. The learning environment I am creating encourages collaboration, exploration, and self-directed learning, which are essential for students to develop knowledge and skills that will be useful to them beyond the classroom
This instructional design is carefully structured to provide a comprehensive education that meets the needs of preschool students. It allows them to develop fundamental skills in language and mathematics through a blended learning environment tailored to their needs.
Innovation in Preschool Learning: Transforming the Classroom with a Student-Centered Approach"
Short Description: Discover how we are revolutionizing preschool learning with an innovative approach that puts each student at the center of their educational process. Our little pre-kindergarten students are reaching new heights in language and math learning through combining technology and traditional methods. The future starts here!
🎓✨ Transforming Preschool Education ✨🎓
Preschool learning has never been so exciting! 🌟 In our latest video, we show you how a student-centered approach, combined with technological innovation, is making a difference in early education.
