Implementing Blended Learning in Our PK Classroom: A Path to Enhanced Early Language and Math Skills.
By Siary Rodriguez

As educators in Cleveland, Texas, we aim to give every child the best possible start on their educational journey. With this goal in mind, I am excited to introduce the implementation of a blended learning model with a rotation strategy in our Pre-Kindergarten (PK) classroom. This innovative approach will significantly improve all our students' early language and math skills, including those with special needs.
In recent years, we have faced many challenges, especially our children. We've seen firsthand how Technology can be a tool for learning, and we want to maximize its potential. Blended learning combines traditional instruction and digital tools, creating a richer, more personalized learning experience. This is especially important in such a critical stage as preschool education, where we lay the foundation for children's academic future.
This approach also allows us to give students choice, ownership over their learning, and opportunities to express their voices. This methodology encourages more profound and more personalized learning, aligning with the principles of blended learning, which also promotes personalization and the active involvement of students in their educational process (Harapnuik, D., & Thibodeaux, T. 2023).
My Topic
Implementing a blended learning model with a rotation strategy in our PK classroom is a transformative step toward enriching early childhood education in our community. This approach will help our young students build robust language arts and mathematics skills, preparing them for academic success and their future lives (Harapnuik, D. 2016).
We are committed to providing all our students with an inclusive, engaging, and effective learning environment. Blended learning combines traditional face-to-face instruction with digital tools and activities, creating a more dynamic and personalized learning experience. This method has proven effective in addressing diverse learning styles and needs, making it ideal for our preschool classrooms, where young children are just beginning to develop critical skills.
The rotation model involves students rotating through different learning stations, each focusing on specific activities to develop language and math skills. This approach ensures that each child receives individualized attention and can learn at their own pace.

Benefits for All Students:
I am convinced that this approach will benefit all of our students in many ways:
-
Personalized Learning: Each child will learn at their own pace and style, ensuring that everyone, including those with special needs, receives attention.
-
Engagement Through Technology: iPads or other devices will make learning interactive and exciting, keeping children motivated.
-
Skills Development: Through technological tools.
-
Inclusivity: All children, regardless of ability, will learn together in an inclusive and supportive environment.
Tools and Resources:
In our PK classroom, we will use several tools and resources to support blended learning:
-
Educational Games: Games that make learning fun and help reinforce key concepts.
-
Online Platforms: Online educational tools that offer a variety of activities and ways to measure each child's progress.
-
Educational Applications: Applications that are fun, educational, and easy to understand.
-
Interactive Display: An interactive tool that will make lessons visual and attractive.
Among the applications and websites, we can mention:
How can this information help others?
This innovation idea is aimed at helping my students and encouraging and guiding other educators and communities. By making quality education available to all from a young age, this center will provide a space where every child can genuinely flourish—whoever they are and their abilities. I share my relevant experiences and findings and hope to offer how technology could be promoted to meet children's learning thoroughly and holistic development needs everywhere.
My proposal can provide new perspectives and trigger a discussion among educators about how all children, including special needs PK students, should have flexible instruction appropriate for their individual learning needs.
Through our evidence of how blended learning fosters early language and mathematics skills development, we will inspire other educators to experiment with new methodologies and technologies to enhance the teaching-learning process and help evolve and continuously improve the educational system.
This proposal aims to change lives in my classroom and spark and encourage a wider community of local and distant educators.
I want to carry out an effort that will help the most minor students from around Cleveland, Texas, and Cleveland ISD. I will engage parents, family members, and community stakeholders in the educational process. We must reach our community best by adopting communication through the most convenient and universally acceptable methods. I aim to work in local schools to attend key community events and use school newsletters, social media, Facebook, and ClassDojo. I plan to conduct public meetings to inform people about blended learning perks. This initiative will enhance the language and mathematics skills of our students. It will also deepen the connection between school and community to help cultivate and foster an improved learning community. I would also like to write for the Early Child Development Journal to tell the story.

Blended Learning- Rotation Model- Blended learning is a staple of my innovation proposal as it aligns with different rotation models that can be used in a Pre-K Classroom. (connection with my innovation proposal)
Relevance to the innovation proposition
Consideration of the diversity of needs
-
Suggestion: Accommodate students with learning disabilities and those without and teach them at their level.
-
Connection: The rotation model is focused on personalized instruction, ensuring that each student gets the support they need (whether they are behind the average curriculum or learning at a non-traditional pace).

Use of technology:
-
Suggestion: Use high-tech tools like iPad luminous screens.
-
Connection: Add/Continue to use teaching and learning software and web-based resources in digital stations that are part of the rotation model to create an engaging, interactive learning environment.
Language and Maths: Early Development of Skills
-
Suggests: Build Foundational Skills in These Key Areas Early
-
Learning Objective: using games and interactive activities in the rotation stations to deliver language ( or ) and mathematical objectives
Individual learning: Focus on personal counseling:
-
Suggestion: Establish an Individualized Learning Climate.
This time step is also a pivotal connection to the individualized rotation because students can follow a schedule based on their needs.
Evidence of effectiveness:
The Best Innovation Proposal: Based on Proven Techniques
For example, blended learning and the rotation model have found empirical support in educational research because they lead to better learning outcomes (Horn & Staker, 2015).
Inclusivity:
-
Development Proposal: Develop an initiative to allow all students to study together in an inclusive setting.
-
Link: Rotating between stations gets students out of rows and into small groups, and when you free the desk, you free the mind to collaborate in groups
